Cooperative Education provides TDSB students with a unique opportunity that combines academic study with practical experience in business and industry. Students develop the work habits, attitudes, and job skills necessary for a successful transition from school to the workplace or post-secondary education. They also earn credits through the successful demonstration of course expectations at the workplace and are monitored regularly by a co-op teacher.
Test Drive a Career:
Do the job and get a chance to see if your career choice is really what you want before choosing your postsecondary destination.
Build Your Skills:
Work one-on-one with a co-worker in a program designed to meet your interests, needs, and strengths.
Get Hands-On Work Experience:
Overcome the problem of "no job without experience and no experience without a job". Put real work experience on your résumé.
Accelerate Your Career
Accelerated OYAP programs are special programs which offer eager apprentices the opportunity to "jump-start" their apprenticeships. These classes are designed for students who have a passion for a specific trade. Accelerated students usually take four elective credits and complete all or part of their LEVEL one apprenticeship training in the same semester. These students graduate with a real head-start. Most accelerated programs run during second semester only.
