School Council

School Council

School councils are an excellent way for parents to get involved in their child`s education. Our school has an elected school council that is an important forum for involving all members of the school community in issues that affect the education of students. The school council is made up of an elected committee of parents, staff and student representatives, appointed community members, the principal, and a general membership which includes all parent of children attending the school. The school council advises the principal on a variety of issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, renovation plans, after school activities, and criteria for selection of new principals. Click here for more information about school councils.

Our School Council Meetings take place at 5:30  PM in our library.

Please join us for our first Council Meeting of the 2019 School Year on Wednesday, September 25th.  We will be electing our new School Council this evening.

Council Meeting Minutes

On behalf of Percy Williams Jr P.S, welcome to the School Council's webpage. The Chairs of our School Council are Crystal Mallory and Donna Bell. If you wish to communicate with our parent council, feel free to leave a message at the main office and we will be sure to get it to them.

The purpose of the school council, with the active participation of parents, is to improve pupil achievement and enhance accountability of the education system to the parents. Each year, council has had its challenges but has managed to continue sponsor quality programming for our children. It is our goal to continue to provide quality programming and to take on some new challenges.

Specifically, we will strive to improve:

  • Parent participation on Council
  • Volunteer participation
  • Community building
  • Communication from the Council to the school community

We look forward to the new school year with new initiatives planned. The opportunities to aid the school and the students through the School Council are boundless. We are only limited by the time we have available to contribute. We are striving for increased involvement by parents in the future so that we can take advantage of these opportunities.

We ask you to help us meet our challenges as a community by stepping forward and giving a little bit of your time. The time spent is both rewarding to you and your children.
