Welcome to Secord Elementary

At Secord Elementary, we are committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming and engaging learning environment where all students feel valued, heard, and empowered to thrive. Our work is guided by a shared belief that every child can succeed, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that learning is meaningful, and centred in equity. We proudly co-create inclusive spaces that celebrate Indigenous excellence by integrating Indigenous pedagogies into our classrooms and school culture. This includes building strong relationships, creating authentic learning experiences, and honouring the stories and contributions of Indigenous peoples—past, present, and future.

Our focus on raising achievement in Math and Literacy is supported by evidence-based instructional practices. In classrooms, this includes small group instruction, explicit teaching strategies, use of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) texts, and ongoing assessment. At the school level, we foster collaboration through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and grade team long range planning. We also build strong school-home partnerships through regular school and class communication to ensure every learner is supported.

Visit us at the office!

The school office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. During regular school hours, all visitors (including parents picking up their children) must first check in at the school office and wear a visitor’s tag at all times if leaving the school office to go into the school.
