Principal-Gary-Pieters

Shirley Street Public School is located in the vibrant community south west of Dundas and Brock Streets. It was first built in 1881 as a two-room school. The present building was constructed in 1963.

Shirley St. P.S. is an OPAL school, which stands for Outdoor Play and Learning. We have many loose parts that the students can use during unstructured play to collaborate, construct and create.  The school is also home to a vibrant Early On Parenting Centre.  Equity, Community, Inclusiveness and High Expectations are the cornerstones of the programming at Shirley St. PS.

Our mandate is:

  1. to ensure rich academic, technological, as well as personal and social development for all students;
  2. to expand collaborative opportunities for staff involvement;
  3. to increase parents' satisfaction and involvement in school initiatives and decision-making;
  4. to expand direct opportunities for community involvement in school.
