Steelesview's school motto is "Spirit and Success". The school provides a dynamic, positive, and productive environment for students. It is an open area school in which staff work collaboratively to plan and deliver classroom programs so that all students can achieve success. There is a close and co-operative partnership between the school and the community that results in additional support, resources, and programs for students.

School Council is organizing the Steelesview Science Fair! It is open to all students!

What is Science Fair?
A half-day event in the school gym
• Open to ALL GRADES – from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5
• Students can work independently or with friends (max. 4 per group)
• Students choose their own topic.
• It is NOT a competition!
• There is NO impact on school report cards.
• Does NOT involve teachers. All work is done at home under the guidance of a supervising guardian.
• Awards will be given to all participants.

The registration deadline including topic is May 18, 2022. Registration is limited to 70 projects due to space restrictions in the gym.
**Interested in VOLUNTEERING? In your e-mail, please let us know if you will be able to volunteer some of your time on the day of the Science Fair.


  • All projects will be displayed on tables in the gym. You will NOT be able to use walls. Therefore, each project must be self-supporting.
    • All items on display must be safe, both for spectators and for the gym floor. Therefore, experiments with volcanoes, chemistry or electricity must take
    place at home, not in the gym! Instead, you can show photos or even movies.
    • Access to power is limited in the gym. If you need a power outlet, you must request it in advance via e-mail:
    • Projects that cause any harm or stress to animals are not permitted.
    • No pets in the gym, please! No live organisms either, such as bacteria. However, live plants are allowed.
    • Please DO NOT hand out any GIVEAWAYS with your project. No candy, no stickers, no gems, no prizes, please!

On June 15th, drop off your completed project between 8:10am - 8:25am.

February is Kindergarten Registration Month

Registration for all TDSB Kindergarten programs begins in February. We look forward to welcoming
you and your child at our school in September!
To attend Junior Kindergarten in September, children must turn four years old by December 31.
To register for Senior Kindergarten, children must be five years old by December 31.

Online Resources for Remote Learning

  • French as a Second Language (FSL) Resources for Families Google SiteThe FSL Department is excited to launch the FSL Resources for Families Google Site. The site is for parents, guardians and family members of students in French as a Second Language programs in the TDSB. It provides families with information about how to support their child(ren) during Remote Learning including guiding principles, considerations for remote learning in FSL Programs, links to resources, how to support at home, and more.

  • TDSB Mathematics for Families is a Google Site designed for families and features resources and interactive weekly mental math challenges. Be sure to bookmark the Mathematics at the TDSB and the TDSB Mathematics for Families Google sites and visit often as we will continue to update the site with relevant resources  and content throughout the year.

  • Ministry of Education’s Learning at Home website; This portal provides supplementary learning materials in math and literacy for elementary and secondary students. The website will help keep students learning and engaged during the COVID-19 school closure period. The ministry has said that these resources do not replace what students have been learning at school, but are intended to help mitigate the loss of learning during the COVID-19 shutdown period.

Family Supports

  • TDSB’s Community Services department operates the Next Steps Employment Centres across 7 locations in the GTA. With the economic impact of COVID-19 impacting more and more families, Next Steps has created this video now uploaded to Youtube to give some tips on where to look for work during these difficult times. -
  • Settlement Service Availability for Steelesview PS Families - School Settlement Workers continue to provide assistance to Steelesview families in accordance with their needs. The service could be provided in different languages: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Tagalog & Russian. In addition, we run online group sessions/ZOOM meetings related with financial, mental health and other supports available during COVID-19.
