Principal's Message

St. George’s Junior School prides itself on fostering an environment that encourages: Success, not failure; Fun, not fear; and Activity, not passivity. Our school strives to create a climate which values all members of the learning community. At St. George’s, our goal is to focus on the whole child, making each individual student feel valued, understood, and supported. High expectations challenge our students to extend their learning beyond basic skills and celebrate their accomplishments and successes.

As a school community, we will support the Years of Action of the Toronto District School Board, and together:

• Make our school an effective school
• Build leadership with a culture of adaptability, openness and resilience
• Form strong and effective relationships and partnerships
• Build a culture that supports environmental sustainability, inspiring teaching and learning
• Identify disadvantage and intervene effectively

The uniqueness of St. George’s lies in the strength of its partnerships - school, home and community. As Principal of St. George’s, I am extremely proud to lead such an extraordinary school community.

Sincerely,

Tanya Hazelton

About Us

St George's Junior School is a public elementary school on Princess Anne Crescent, located in the Princess Anne Manor community on the south side of Princess Margaret Boulevard. The school first opened in 1956 and expanded in 1960 to include additional classroom space.

school entranceWith a population of 220 students, we welcome children from Kindergarten through Grade Five.  Two years ago we implemented full-day Kindergarten and this year we welcomed a Primary Autism class.  We also have core French for students in Grade 4 and 5; a half-time Music teacher and a half-time Teacher-Librarian.

We are proud of the many leadership roles and extra-curricular opportunities offered to our students. Some of these include Student Ambassadors, Morning Announcers and Planet Protectors.  Our extracurricular opportunities are many, including Cross-country Running, Slo-pitch, Basketball, Soccer, Track and Field, and a variety of clubs such as Book Club, Jewelery Making/Beading, Board Games, Keyboards, Dance Club and Gardening Club.
