VOLUNTEERING PROCESS at ST. GEORGE’S
Thank you for considering volunteering at our school. Volunteers make it possible for schools to provide extended learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom.
VOLUNTEERING: Field Trips or Class workshops
A vulnerable sector check is not required. If you’d like to volunteer for a daytime excursion, please contact your child’s teacher.
VOLUNTEERING: Weekly/monthly support
You will need to have a vulnerable sector screening completed. Below is the process. Steps To Follow to Obtain A PRC Vulnerable Sector Screening for volunteers who live in Toronto.
a. The volunteer completes the Consent to Disclosure form. Please see the school principal for this form.
b. The volunteer submits the completed Consent to Disclosure form with a certified cheque or money order made payable to Toronto Police Services for $20.00.
c. The school may opt to accept a cash payment from a volunteer and send a school cheque instead. School cheques do not have to be certified. The clearance process may take up to 10 weeks.
d. Toronto Police Services will mail the PRC results directly to the volunteer’s home address on the application form.
The volunteer shall deliver the original PRC results to the school. The principal will then send the original PRC to the TDSB’s PRC office for processing.
e. The TDSB PRC office will update the online volunteer database and inform the school that the volunteer has been cleared and may begin volunteering. This process may take up to 4 weeks.
