What is the City Adult Learning Centre?

The City Adult Learning Centre (CALC) is a Day School for Adults 21 years of age or older. CALC offers academic programing for students who wish to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and supports all pathways: college, university, trades and the workplace.

Quad 1: September – November

Quad 2: November – February

Quad 4: April – June

Class Schedule:

Classes are 2 hrs in length: 8:25-10:25; 10:35 - 12: 35: and 1:15 - 3:15 Monday to Friday.

Age Qualification:

For the 2025-2026 school year, those born in 2004 (or earlier) are eligible to enter the CALC adult day school program. For those born in 2004 or later, if you do not qualify as an adult student under this definition, and you do not fit the criteria for our EdVance program (students between 18 and 20 years old, few credits, interrupted education), you are advised to seek assistance at your "home" school. If you cannot find a suitable alternative, please contact the TDSB Placement Centre at (416) 393-9300.

Academic Qualification:

English Language Learners are encouraged to obtain a LINC level 5 prior to beginning their studies at CALC.

Required Documentation:

For the registration appointment, you will need to bring:

1. Original Copies of Immigration or Citizenship documents

2. Credit Summary or Transcript (if from Ontario)

3. Most recent IEP (Individual Education Plan) if applicable

4. Photo Identification

5. Proof of address

6. $20 Student Activity Fee must be paid through TDSB School Cash Online prior to Registration. Please bring proof of payment/receipt to your Registration-see instructions below.

Fees:

As a new student you will be asked to pay a $20.00 Student Activity Fee for the school year. Payment is made through TDSB School Cash Online. Students pay a $20 activity fee which covers the student agenda, celebrations, guest speakers and theme days. Please follow the online instructions to pay using SchoolCashOnline.

Timetables:

TDSB uses the TDSB CONNECTS APP to help you stay connected and organized. By logging in with your TDSB school ID, your timetable is automatically populated allowing you to easily add notes, goals and details to each course. New Students can pick up their timetables in person in the Ed-Centre (basement) on Day 1 of each quad.

The City Adult Learning Centre (CALC) is a secondary school that offers an academic program for adult students, ages 21 and over,  who wish to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or get compulsory credits to attend college or university.  
We support all post secondary destinations: college, university, apprenticeship and workplace. 

Our innovative programs include CANEX Co-op,  Personal Support Worker and Childcare Assistant Certificate Program.

Registration to CALC takes place each Quad. Quads begin in September, November, February and April.

Export your TDSB Google Drive files

If you are an inactive student you cannot access any TDSB email / Google drive files

BEFORE you drop a course and become an inactive student, please use these instructions to transfer your existing Google Drive information to your personal files / email. This can be done through takeout.google.com.
