Hodgson Rink

Rink Opens Nov. 25, 2017

the Hodgson Rink

The Hodgson Outdoor Artificial Ice Rink is scheduled to be in operation from Saturday, November 25, 2017 to Sunday, March 18, 2018 (weather permitting). Our current agreement with the City of Toronto allows for the school to have exclusive use of the rink until 11:45 am.  Staff from Toronto's Parks, Forestry & Recreation department will supervise the rink from 11:45 am until closing.  This allows our students and staff to use the rink during the lunch break and immediately after school.  Community members can also use the rink from 11:45 am onward and also on any PA Days and also on the weekends. For information about opening and closing times or programs available, here is the link for the Hodgson Ice Rink on the City of Toronto website

The Hodgson Artificial Ice Rink

on the hodgson rink.We are happy to report that the on-going partnership between the City and the TDSB has resulted in an amendment which will increase the community hours at Hodgson ice rink. The original agreement between the City and the TDSB gave the school and TDSB access to the rink during school hours (7:30 am to 4:30 pm) and gave the City access from 4:30 pm to 10:00pm. The City and the TDSB, who have been working together since October to work on a solution that would provide more access for the community, have agreed to amend the original agreement. The amendment will see the rink open for community access from 11:30 am on weekdays for the 2015-2016 season. Under the agreement, community access will be determined on a yearly basis, depending on the programming needs of Hodgson Sr. PS and the TDSB.

The amending agreement is in the final stages of being signed, but the City will begin staffing the rink at 11:30 am staring on Monday, January 18. This means our students can skate, supervised by the City, during lunch and right after school for the remainder of the school year. More information on times and programs will come from the City at a later date.

The original City-TDSB agreement and the recent amendment are the result of the tremendous commitment and dedication of TDSB Trustee Laskin, many TDSB staff, Councillor Matlow and many City of Toronto staff. These individuals are to be commended for their work to support the students at Hodgson and the members of our community.
