Participating in school life helps students feel a sense of belonging to the school community. It also builds leadership skills, teaches teamwork, develops time management skills, promotes community building, builds confidence, and creates lifelong memories. Students are encouraged to engage in all aspects of school life at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute.

Students who participate in extracurricular activities have the following expectations:
- Attend all classes
- Students who are not meeting curriculum expectations must attend homework help, academic resource or additional school support in order to improve their achievement and continue their involvement on a team/club
- Follow the board/school/TDSSAA codes of conduct at all times
- Promote a positive school climate
Students who have multiple unexcused absences and lates will not be permitted to participate in extracurricular activities.
Students will complete an eligibility form when joining clubs and teams at Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute. They will be supported by the ACL of Student Voice, Leadership, Co-Curricular, their Coaches, Teachers, Support Staff, and Administration to help meet all expectations.
