Blaydon junior students demonstrated incredible team spirit during our soccer tournament with a neigbourhing school.

Already just a few months into the school year, students have wonderful opportunities to participate in school events and programs.  Students enjoyed our yearly Terry Fox Walk, students particiapted in cross country and are enjoying clubs like our primary Kindness Club and our Library Helpers Club.

Every June, we come together as entire school community (students, parents and school staff) to enjoy a picnic lunch.  We reflect on school year with a yummy lunch, ice cream truck visit and playing on a bouncy castle.

At Blaydon Public School, staff, students and the community are focused on developing our positive mental health and well-being.  Through a variety of strategies and activities, students are learning how to manage their feelings of stress, anxiety and anger.  We are also learning about different hobbies and activities that can help us feel more focused, relaxed and increase our overall sense of well-being.  As a result, we started Wellness Wednesdays which takes place once a month.  Each teacher organizes a fun workshop that students in grades 1-5 sign-up for.  It's also a wonderful opportunity for junior students to mentor our younger ones.

Our staff and students enjoyed learning about the different Lunar New Year celebrations and traditions that take place in Vietnam, China and Korea.  Students participated in hands-on learning activities and Ms. Mak's grade 1 class also had a chance to dance in a traditional Lion Dance.
