Returning to School: A Guide to the Safe Reopening of the TDSB

School Hours

(new for September 2020)

8:00 - 8:15 (supervised yard)

8:15 - School Begins

2:45 - School Ends

Drop off and Pick up:

Please consider the following:

  • The Kiss & Ride is available on Broadlands Blvd. Look for the adults wearing safety vests east of the driveway. If you're driving, this is a quick and safe option for dropping off your children.
  • The easiest way to enter the Kiss & Ride zone is from the east on Broadlands Boulevard.
  • If at all possible, please consider walking to school, parking down the street or on a side street that accesses the back field and walk your child to the school.
  • The bus loop is closed to parents at pick up and drop off times.

Parking and Kiss & Ride

With the cooperation of our Community Liaison Police Officer, Broadlands has a Kiss n’ Ride in front of our school.   School staff and parent volunteers meet cars just West of the bus loop entrance, and are directed to the school yard with adults supervising along the way.  This helps to keep the traffic flow moving and to reduce/eliminate the need for cars to park, either in front of the school or in the parking lot. We do want to ensure that we keep the area around our school as safe as possible for our community.  A Green Kiss & Ride sign identifies the area, which reads "STUDENT PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF AREA."

Please be mindful of where you park around the school.  The bus loop is unavailable to car traffic between 7:30 and 4:00.  Also, please be respectful of our Broadlands community, including ensuring that our neighbours are able to access their driveways at all times.

Do you have a child in Junior Kindergarten?

Early French Immersion Program - Application Information

For families interested in the Toronto District School Board's Early French Immersion Program (begins in Senior Kindergarten), we offer an online process to apply. Attached please find an important information package.

To apply for the Early French Immersion Program (SK entry) for September 2021, applications must be completed online between November 2 and November 27, 2020.

An offer of placement in the program (not a specific school) is guaranteed to all on-time applicants and will be made in the weeks following the close of the application window.

Please note: Families with an older sibling currently enrolled in the same French program and who will be in attendance next year are still required to complete an online application for the new student. Please select the “sibling option” within the online application.

For more information about the Early French Immersion (SK) application process, please join us for a Virtual Information Session on one of the following dates:

  • November 2, 2020, 7 p.m.
  • November 12, 2020, 7 p.m.
  • November 19, 2020, 10 a.m.

Cash Online

Our school has moved to an online system for collecting payments. To register for School Cash Online, select “Get Started Today” and complete the three registration steps.

Broadlands Pathway

The pathway for students currently enrolled at Broadlands PS for the French Immersion program is Broadlands (SK to 5) – Windfields (6-8) – York Mills (9-12).  Although this is the planned pathway, changes do occasionally occur.

Who do I speak to when I have questions/concerns?

We want to work with our Broadlands community and families.  Attached is an outline of who to contact when those questions and concerns arise.

The safe arrival number is available 24 hours a day.  Please call and leave a message with your child's name, the reason for the absence, and your child's teacher's name so that we are able to update our attendance and so that you won't get a call!

Schools and Parents Working Together for Our Students

This video has been created as a tool to help explain the role that parents/guardians play in supporting student achievement and well-being and emphasizes the importance of parent engagement across our system.  http://www.tdsb.on.ca/AboutUs/DirectorofEducation/VisionforLearning.aspx.
