Technology & Curriculum

Why do we focus on techonolgy at Corvette?

Technology

Technology includes much more than the knowledge and skills related to computers and their applications. Technology is both a form of knowledge that uses concepts and skills from other disciplines and the application of this knowledge to meet an identified need or solve a specific problem using materials, energy, and tools (including computers).

The method of technology consists of inventing or modifying devices, structures, systems, or processes. In Grade 5, for example, students are expected to design devices that can transform one form of energy into another.

The school believes that as students are growing up “digital”, they need to use technology to enhance learning, communication and creativity and use technology for more than the retrieval of information.

Corvette has several Smart Boards as well as portable classroom notebook computers and iPads to support existing technology. All special education classes have access to assistive software programs to engage students in a manner that best suits their learning styles.

At Corvette Junior Public School, technology is used widely to enhance the curriculum and support students in their learning. Corvette has an upgraded computer lab with enough work stations to allow full access to an entire class where students learn fundamental skills are exposed to new web tools, are able to create wikis and blogs and use digital tools to develop and expand their IT skills.
