Developmental Disabilities

Developmental Disabilities Program

Our Developmental Disability (DD) Program teaches students life skills in an environment where students will feel safe and supported. Students between the ages of 14 to 21 can participate in non-credit courses to prepare more effectively for vocational college or the world of work. Students can earn a certificate of accomplishment upon graduation from Drewry SS.

Our program is supported by a multidisciplinary team including teachers, child and youth workers, educational assistants, and special education support staff. Instruction is based on an alternative curriculum that emphasizes communication, social development, daily living skills, functional academics, and experiential learning.Students engage in arts-based learning and school-based experiential opportunities that encourage creativity, collaboration, and practical skill development. These experiences help students build confidence and develop the functional skills needed to participate meaningfully in school life and their communities.
