About Intermediate Mathematics

Intermediate Mathematics at Earl Haig offers the Grade 9 Destreamed (MTH1W), the Grade 10 Academic (MPM2D), and Gr. 9 and 10 Locally Developed (MAT1L/MAT2L) courses. 


The Unit topics for grade 9 include: Number Sense, Algebra, Linear Relations, Geometry, Financial Literacy, Data and Coding. The Grade 9 course final evaluations include a 10% EQAO and a 20% Culminating Activity. Unit topics in Grade 10 include Analytic Geometry, Quadratic Functions, Trigonometry and the Grade 10 course has a 15% Exam along with a 15% Culminating Activity.


We enrich student learning through University of Waterloo Math Contests and boost engagement using a Building Thinking Classrooms pedagogical approach. We also offer in school support including Math Lunch Help, Peer Tutoring and Continuing Education after-school Numeracy.
