1. To be eligible for an Athletic Letter, a student-athlete must:
a. Be a student in attendance at East York C.I.
b. Own an EYCI Student Activity Cad for the current year.
c. Earn 30 points for a Junior Letter.
d. Earn 60 points for a Senior Letter.
2. The Phys. Ed. Department will give the final approval. The criterion for recommendation shall be: quitting a team, a breach of discipline that forces cutting, conduct that is detrimental to the reputation of EYCI.
3. The EYCI Phys. Ed. Department may revoke any or all points awarded for such activities as: quitting a team, a breach of discipline that forces cutting, conduct that is detrimental to the reputation of EYCI.
4. Participation on teams is limited to one team per season. The Phys. Ed. Department will give final approval for any exceptions.
5. Students must apply for the Athletic Letter in May of each year.
Points Description
Major Teams (5 points)
• Teams that participate in both league play and playoffs
• Such teams could include: football, cross-country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, ice hockey, baseball, track & field, badminton, tennis, cricket, swimming, co-ed volleyball
• To be an eligible athlete or manager must demonstrate excellent attendance at practices and games
• Bonus points are awarded for each level of the playoffs (quarter- final earns 1 extra point, semi-final earns 2 extra points, finals earn 3 extra points, and a championship earns 5 extra points)
Minor Teams (3 points)
• Teams that participate In tournaments only
• To be an eligible athlete or manager must demonstrate excellent attendance at practices & tournaments
• Such teams could include: Indoor soccer, and lacrosse.
Clubs (3 points)
• Clubs could include: weight training, badminton, dance, aerobics
• EYAA members will be awarded 3 to 5 points depending on commitment
• An eligible participant must demonstrate commitment
Intramurals (1 point per sport up to a maximum of 3)
• Intramurals could include: flag football, 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball, floor hockey
• An eligible participant must demonstrate commitment
Administrative (1 point per event up to a maximum of 3)
• Possible activities include:
• Scoring/timekeeping team competitions
• Working at a full day sports’ competition (tournament, track & field meet)
• Working at a special event (open house, curriculum night)
• Refereeing an intermural tournament (all games)
