→ Kilometer Club: This club runs every morning recess for Gr 1- 4 students to participate in fun and fitness! The Club will run every morning for at least the next month weather permitting, with daily tallies of the KM popsicle sticks being taken in our classrooms. Classes who collect the most kilometer sticks will have a chance to win the Golden or Silver Shoe trophies! Top runners per class and also by division will also be eligible for awards and prizes such as recess balls, hats, and certificates! Thank you to Avery L and Madeline V who have kindly offered to be our Kilometer Club stick helpers every morning!

→ Cross Country Team/Running Club: Students interested in trying out for our competitive Cross Country Team, as well as students who are interested in running for fun are invited to join us on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:00am-8:30am at the back pavement to train! In order to join us, please ensure you have completed the permission form on the TDSB EMA Excursion site. Athletes are expected to wear running shoes, and crocs will not be permitted. Regular attendance is required for students interested in being invited to be part of the competitive team which will compete at the TDSB East Qualification Meet at Thompson Park Cross Country on October 15th, 2025. For those interested, our first exhibition run to get a taste of competition will be at Chine Drive on Wed. September 24th after school from 4-6pm. For this meet, parents are responsible for getting their child to and from the meet, and therefore there will be no permission form to sign.

* TDSB East Qualification Meet @ Thompson Memorial Park Cross Country on October 15th, 2025  -->Top 25 competitive runners move on (not including successful teams of 4 ) for Gr. 3 and up, Gr. 1/2 Fun Run, Gr. 3-8 Fun Run for non-competitive runners of 1km long)

* TDSB East Final/Conference Meet @ Thompson Memorial Park Cross Country on October 21st, 2025  (Top 10 move on competitively for Gr. 4 and up only, Gr. 3-8 Fun Runners for non-competitive runners of 1km for those who didn't move on or for those who want fun and less competitive competition)

* TDSB City Finals Meet @Sunnybrook Park on October 29 2025 (Only athletes who make it in the top 10 from the Oct. 21 race will attend this race)

→ Gr. 5/6 Girl’s & Gr. 7/8 Girl’s Bordenball Teams: Bordenball is a handball game, designed to increase female participation in sport. Bordenball has four quarters, with 6 players on at a time, and follows a 'Rule of 3' (players maye take 3 steps with ball in hand, players must be 3 meters away from a teammate to complete a pass, and there is a 3 second time limit that you may possess the ball before it must be passed off). Bordenball is an extremely short fall season, with just a few weeks to create and train a team!

Practice Dates: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri’s at lunch, until the October meets

Tournament Dates: GRADE 5/6 GIRLS - Oct.  2nd     &     GRADE 7/8 GIRLS - Oct. 1st (game schedules TBD)

Tournament Driving Parent Volunteers: Please let Ms. Jeffrey know if you are able to drive, you will have to complete 3 items in order to drive children other than your own: 1) sign the driving form    2) provide a copy of your driver’s license    3) provide an up to date copy of your proof of insurance to the main office if you want to help carpool other children other than your own. (Note this driving paperwork will be kept and good for the rest of the year for other teams)  - Coaches: Ms. Jeffrey & Mr. Brown

→ Terry Fox Run Friday Sept 19th: Our fundraising run will be held on September 19th in the afternoon to support finding a cure for cancer. This year, families can make online donations and keep an eye on our school tally directly through our school’s own Terry Fox Foundation Fundraising page: Fairmount's Terry Fox Fundraising Page. Students are welcome to wear red, white and black for spirit wear colours or Terry Fox shirts of course! Last year we raised $2400 to go towards the fight against cancer, let’s see if we can match or surpass this incredible accomplishment! Thank you for supporting a great cause!
