Welcome to Glamorgan Jr. Public School

Hello everyone!

Welcome back! My name is Mr. Petrucci and I am privileged to be the new principal at Glamorgan Jr. P.S. Together with Ms. Statton, our new vice-principal, we are looking forward to connecting with all our students, staff and community members over the days and weeks ahead. Both Ms. Statton and I are very excited to be a part of this vibrant learning community! We wanted to sincerely thank you for the warm welcome and well wishes we have received already from so many of you! The feeling of community and connectedness is mutual, and we are looking forward to fostering positive professional working relationships with all as we enter the upcoming school year 2021-2022.

We hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with fond memories and good times with family and friends. We recognize that it was “a different summer”, however we are hopeful you all enjoyed the beautiful weather and time together. To those returning to our wonderful school, welcome back! To those who are new, a sincere welcome to all of you! We hope that everyone has had pleasant adventures during the summer months. Now, it is time to get back to learning opportunities, routines and school friends. I’m sure many children are excited with the anticipation of beginning a new grade with a new teacher and look forward to making new friendships. Equally, there will be some anxiousness given our current “new normal”. We will continue to work together to support each other through this time and provide the best learning opportunities both in school and virtually. Thank you all for your continued support and patience as we work through this year together!

Both Ms. Statton and I are extremely excited about this upcoming school year as it promises to be an enriching year for students, staff and our community. As a learning community, we will continue to cultivate a caring environment for all; continue to develop social responsibility in our students and build community connectedness/ and student agency.

With the commitment of our dedicated staff, we will also continue to strive for daily excellence. Students will have many opportunities to develop and grow, academically and socially. As a whole school, our foci will continue to be on School Safety, Literacy (English & French), Mathematics, STEM and the Arts. We are a school that celebrates diversity and inclusivity. We will approach this year through a lens of care and compassion as we all transition back into this school year together.

Please know that our school is well on its way to being ready and gleaming for the opening day thanks to Mr. Knapp, Mr. Ramsay, Mr. Stefanidis and Mr. Bark - our caretaking staff. Let’s honour their hard work by making every effort to keep our school clean. The teaching and support staff will be busy bringing to life their classrooms and planning meaningful, engaging and authentic learning lessons. In addition, we will be placing directional arrows and signs throughout the school to support a safe and healthy return for all during this time of COVID-19.

Our priority will continue to be the safety and well-being of our students, staff and school community. We will equally be committed to supporting and achieving high learning expectations for all on a daily basis. As school administrators, we look forward to visiting all the classrooms and discussing learning goals and success criteria with all the students as they take ownership of their learning.

A great big THANK YOU to Ms. Statton, Mrs. Georgopoulos and Ms. Flampor for their efforts to ensure a smooth start to the school year - never an easy task! Class lists, bus schedules, student forms, attendance and so much more will all be organized and at the ready for September 9th, 2021.

Speaking of staff - we have many familiar teaching faces back and we welcome everyone! Some staff will also be teaching virtually for the foreseeable future “alongside” their colleagues at school. Regardless of where our staff is teaching, they continue to work as a teaching team to support the learning of all our students. We are excited to be working alongside this teaching staff!

Finally, we wanted to extend a very warm welcome to everyone and best wishes for a fantastic 2021-2022 school year! We know it will be a different year in some ways, however, it is the “same wonderful school” – as I have been told by many already because of the students, staff and our parent community! Thank you all for your continued support and hard work! We look forward to working with everyone in the months ahead.

Sincerely,

Mr. A. Petrucci & Ms. A. Statton
