Glamorgan School Council Election

It is time for the Glamorgan School Council election and we would like to ask you to nominate a candidate or yourself for a position on the 2021-22 Council. As a member of the School Council, you can play an active role in your child(ren)’s education. You will also have the chance to meet other parents, staff and community members and gain a greater understanding of the education system and our school. The School Council provides a forum through which parents and other members of the community can share ideas to help improve student achievement, well-being and support school initiatives. The School Council is an advisory body that makes recommendations to the principal of the school and the school board. According to the Ministry of Education, School Councils may become involved in areas such as codes of student behaviour, curriculum priorities, the selection of principals, programs and strategies to improve school performance, safe arrival programs and so on. The membership includes parent-members, the Principal, the Vice-principal, a teacher representative, a support staff representative and community representatives. A Council Chair (or co-chairs), a Secretary and a Treasurer are chosen from the parent members. If you are interested in getting involved, please complete the nomination form below by Friday, October 1st.

In the event that there are 3 or fewer declared candidates, then all candidates will be “acclaimed” as members and an election will not be required. If an election is required, the list of candidates will be published to all parents on October 14, 2021. The election will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 as a Google Meet. The link will be posted on the school Google Calendar.
