Missed Evaluations
Please note that family vacations are not considered a legitimate absence. Every effort should be made to avoid scheduling family vacations during school time. Holiday dates are published in the school calendar and on the TDSB website, http://www.tdsb.on.ca. In the event of a missed evaluation due to a family vacation, teachers are not required to provide an alternative form of evaluation. In the case of examinations, no make-up exam or alternative arrangements will be made. In person students will not be made Virtual Learners in order to accommodate.

The TDSB Transition Support website for families is a new resource designed to assist families (and educators) in navigating key transitions throughout a student's educational journey, from Kindergarten to Post-21.
These user-friendly platforms offer valuable tools, information, and support tailored to ensure smooth transitions for all students, including those with disabilities and special education needs. Whether transitioning to a new grade, moving to a different school, or preparing for life beyond secondary education, the website provides practical resources and guidance to help educators and families plan effectively and make informed decisions. Families are encouraged to connect with their child’s teacher or principal for more specific transition information tailored to their child's needs.
Online Learning Requirement:
Beginning with students who entered Grade 9 in the 2020-21 school year, all students must earn at least two online learning credits as part of the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), unless they have opted out or been exempted.
Please complete the opt-out form if you do not want your student to fulfill this requirement. A hard copy of this form must be submitted to the Guidance Office.
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR):
PLAR is the formal evaluation and credit-granting process whereby students may obtain credits for prior learning, which includes the knowledge and skills students have acquired, in both formal and informal ways,outside secondary school.
Students may have their knowledge and skills evaluated against the expectations outlined in provincial curriculum policy documents in order to earn credits towards the secondary school diploma. The PLAR process involves two components: "challenge" and "equivalency".
The "challenge" process is the process whereby students' prior learning is assessed for the purpose of granting credit for a Grade 10, 11, or 12 course developed from a provincial curriculum policy document published in 1999 or later.
The "equivalency" process is the process of assessing credentials from other jurisdictions. All credits granted through the PLAR process – that is, through either the challenge process or the equivalency process – must represent the same standards of achievement as credits granted to students who have taken the courses.

Required Documentation
What information do I need to bring to register my child?
To register your child, you will need to provide proof of:
- Age (a birth certificate or certificate of baptismal record or passport or Canadian citizenship card)
- Proof of address (including any two of the following current documents: Utility bill (e.g. hydro, gas, water), cable TV, internet, or home phone bill, insurance policy (home, tenant, auto or life), mortgage statement, rental or lease agreement or deed, current purchase and sale agreement, property tax bill or notice of tax assessment. Original correspondence from a government agency or legal clinic may be accepted as a second proof of address document).
- Parents must submit their child’s immunizations online at http://www.toronto.ca/studentvaccines. If parents are unable to submit online, a copy may be presented to the school office to submit on your behalf.
