We, the students, staff and community members of Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute, acknowledge we are on the lands of the Mississaugas of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Wendat. We also recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute was built on Treaty 13 Lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, negotiated in 1805. We are grateful for the opportunity to meet and learn here, and we honour the generations of Indigenous Peoples for taking care of the land since time immemorial.
We are committed to working on healing our relationship with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples and want to better understand Indigenous perspectives and relationships with the environment. We are committed to unlearning the ideologies of colonialism, centering Indigenous voices, and engaging in meaningful actions towards reconciliation.
