Safety is priority number one for our students, staff and community. Having a team of individuals dedicated to providing assistance with the crosswalk as well as an organized and safe drop-off each morning and pick-up at the end of the day is essential to our school program. Our Safety Patrollers have been trained by a member of Toronto Police Services and have passed an exam with regard to the role of the CAA Safety Patroller in facilitating safety and safe crossings in a crosswalk as well as how to assist students with disembarking from a school bus.
For morning duty, students are required to arrive at school no later than 8:25 a.m. and wear suitable outdoor clothing as they will be outside for 15 minutes, in all kinds of weather. Should a Patroller not be able to fulfill their obligation on any given day, they are asked to advise the school the day before or telephone the school and leave a message on the safe arrival line voice mailbox. All Patroller teams are on duty for a week at a time.
