Welcome to The Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies!  Our school represents a unique opportunity for adult students to learn new skills, develop new ways of thinking and to change direction in life.  Whether you are completing the requirements of The Ontario Secondary School Diploma, learning English or earning the prerequisites for a post-secondary program, SCAS provides a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

Our classes focus on learning by doing, on solving realistic problems and on discussing complex issues.  Our teachers recognize the life experiences of our students and use this knowledge to enhance the curriculum.  Our teachers also recognize that much learning occurs outside of the classroom.  To that end, they sponsor field trips, clubs and sporting events.  Students are encouraged to follow their example and become actively engaged in the life of the school.

Congratulations on your decision to consider The Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies.  It's the first step to reaching your goal.

N. Dyal,

Food for Kids Program

We know that the closure of schools has been difficult for many families, especially those who rely on school-based Student Nutrition Programs. The TDSB and the Toronto Foundation for Student Success have teamed up to provide families at your school with $50 grocery store food cards (one per TDSB student). If your family would benefit from this card, please complete the registration form online.
