OPAL

In 2016, EcoKids piloted Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) in six schools in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). First established in the United Kingdom, the OPAL program focuses on the use of loose parts to engage students in collaborate and creative play outdoors. The OPAL rules that students use to guide their play are, "Is it safe enough? Is everyone having fun? Is it inclusive?" We encourage our students to think about these questions as they're playing in order to ensure safety and inclusion.
