History of Subway II

Subway Academy II opened in April 1976 with fifteen students and two teachers at 296 Brunswick Avenue. In September 1976 enrollment grew to sixty students. For five years Subway II co-existed with The Three Schools until we moved to 304 Brunswick.

In 2002 we moved to our current location on the 3rd floor of Beverly Street School. Exterior view of Subway Academy II

We are a staff of four teachers, one guidance counselor, and an office administrator.  We are also supported by a social worker and itinerant resource teacher.  We are a small school of under 100 students and we usually fill up as the demand for alternative education is high and our program delivery is unique.

We have the privilege of being right downtown in the communities of Baldwin Village, Kensington Market, Chinatown, the University of Toronto and are a stone's throw from George Brown House and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
