An eco-friendly school

The Waterfront School is a proud Gold EcoSchool committed to environmental sustainability. This year, we continue to embed eco-friendly initiatives into our daily school life and have taken part in many events that build environmental awareness across our community.

Our students actively participate in local clean-up events, and our EcoClub meets over the lunch hour and on select days after school. EcoClub members lead presentations for classes, parent meetings, and whole-school assemblies on how we can all be more environmentally friendly. Each term, we award a certificate to the most eco-friendly class, based on how consistently they track their energy use.

We're proud of all that The Waterfront School has achieved in environmental awareness and education—and of how caring for our planet has brought us together as one school team.

EcoClub's Boomerang Lunch 

The Great Gulp

On March 2nd, The Waterfront School took part in "The Great Gulp" in recognition of World Water Day. Students raised their reusable bottles for a synchronized drink of tap water—a simple, shared moment to highlight the importance of cutting down on single-use plastic water bottles. We gathered everyone for a group photo to mark the occasion.

The event was held on Monday, March 2nd at 10:30 AM in the 2nd Floor Foyer. Families were invited to join in from home as well, raising a reusable bottle of their own and taking a moment to reflect on ways to reduce single-use plastics in everyday life.

The Great Big Crunch

We're excited to share that our school received 240 apples to take part in The Great Big Crunch! The apples were delivered by FoodShare and hand-washed by our wonderful student volunteers.

Every student joined this fun and healthy initiative at 9:40 AM on our second-floor stairwell, crunching into their apples together as part of this national celebration of local, healthy food.
