Parking and Student Safety at Timberbank

Like many schools, our parking lot and the surrounding streets are areas of concern.

The concern at school is around student safety.  We do not want our students injured because drivers do not always check if students are walking through the lot or in between parked cars on the street.

We will continue to talk to our students about this, but we require your ongoing cooperation.

We have regular visits scheduled with Toronto Police Services and the Parking Enforcement Unit to address safety concerns by members of our community.

We would like to see as many students walk to school whenever possible to promote a healthy active lifestyle, we recognize that there are occasions when driving is necessary, we ask that you consider not bringing the car to school.

When you are dropping your children off please use the lot as a “Kiss and Ride” where you circle around and drop your children off in a safe area, we ask that you DO NOT park in areas that are not designated as parking areas or block the road and gates into the parking lot so that we can continue to have a clear flow of traffic.

The gates to the parking lot may be closed at any time if needed. If the gates are closed the parking lot is not accessible at that time, please do not block the gates. If for any reason you are in the parking lot when the gates are being closed please inform a member of staff and we will let you out when it is safe to do so.

If you are asked to move your vehicle by a member of staff please comply with the request as quickly and safely as possible.

There was a recent accident on the crosswalk near the school, the Safety of our students is something we all need to be concerned about. While it was not a child who was hurt, we need to be vigilant about our driving and looking out for our community. Please take your time, slow down and look out for each other.

Please help our traffic flow by dropping off and picking up your children on the school side of the street.  Do not stop/park on the other side as it is illegal and parking will be enforced by the appropriate authorities on occasion. Please note: there are no U Turns allowed on the street and it is illegal to park facing the wrong way into traffic. We would appreciate that you be mindful of the School Bus drop off areas and the crosswalk. Please do your part to continue to follow the rules of the road especially in the vicinity of the school.
