Welcome to TDSB Virtual Secondary School!

Dear Virtual Secondary School Students and Parents/ Guardians /Caregivers,

As per the Ministry of Education, we are required to review the residency documents of students registered at our school at the start of each school year to ensure that the student and parent(s)/guardian(s) reside in the jurisdiction of the province.  

To meet this Ministry requirement, all families will need to provide original copies of their proof of residency documents  by Thursday, October 24th.

To facilitate this process, families will be able to book an appointment through our online portal and then come to our Virtual Secondary School location (400 Rockcliffe Blvd, Toronto ON, M6N 2R6) at the chosen date and time.   Instructions on how to book an appointment are listed at the bottom of this email.

Any students for whom TDSB staff cannot verify residency by the given date will be demitted from Virtual Secondary School.

Appointments are available on the dates listed below from 8:30a.m. to 11:30a.m. and 12:30p.m. to 4:00p.m.
October 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th

You will need to bring one document from Category A  and one document from Category B to your appointment.  Please see attached document for more details.

Category A

  • Current Property Tax Bill / MPAC Notice of Assessment
  • Current mortgage statement, Rental / Lease Agreement, or deed
  • Agreement of Purchase and Sale, including proof of purchase provided before the pupil attends the School

Category B

  • CRA Income Tax Assessment (Most recent)
  • Current Utility Bill/e-Bill (water, hydro, gas, home phone/cable/internet, home/tenant/auto insurance)
  • Recent correspondence from a municipal, provincial or federal government agency
  • Other official/government documents confirming residence requirements (i.e. CRA Notice of Assessment, Statement of Old Age, Security T4 (OAS) or Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefits, etc.)

Please note that original documents must be shown in-person. An Ontario driver’s license, Health Card, Credit card statement, or cell phone bill are  not acceptable forms of documentation to confirm a student’s residence.

If it is a challenge to bring documents to our Virtual Secondary School location (400 Rockcliffe Blvd, Toronto ON, M6N 2R6), you can visit other TDSB sites at the dates and times listed below.  Appointments are not needed for this option.

  • Tuesday, Oct 22 8 - 6 pm Kennedy Public School, 20 Elmfield Cres, Scarborough, ON, M1V 2Y6
  • Thursday, Oct 17 - 6pm Danforth Collegiate & Technical Institute, 800 Greenwood Ave, Toronto, ON, M4J 4B7
  • Saturday, Oct 19 - 10am Thistletown CI, 20 Fordwich Cres, Etobicoke, ON, M9W 2T4
  • Sunday, Oct 27 - 11 am Rockcliffe Middle School, 400 Rockcliffe Blvd, Toronto, ON, M6N 4R

 We also have two locations where an appointment is not needed

  • Tuesday Oct 22 – 8am to 6pm; Silverthorne Collegiate Institute, 291 Mill Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9C 1Y5
  • Friday, Oct 25 – 9am to 4pm; TDSB East Education Office, 140 Borough Dr, Toronto, ON, M1P 4N6
