Science

Mission

The Science Department at the TDSB’s Virtual Secondary School (VSS) is a place where curiosity and exploration are encouraged and fostered. While the VSS is still in its infancy, the teachers here at the VSS are passionate about science, technology, and all of its applications.

As students begin their high school career, we will build upon what they have learned in science throughout elementary school. In grades 9 and 10 students will explore units of study in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth & Space Science. As students progress through the grade 9 and 10 science curriculum, they will have the opportunity to develop STEM skills, explore careers related to science, and research the applications of science and technology in our daily lives.

Then, as students move into grade 11 and 12 they will have the opportunity to focus on the various disciplines in Science: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  Our senior level courses are designed in a way that they will help our students better transition into the post-secondary institution of their choice, whether it will be University, College or the Workplace.
