At the TDSB, we encourage a standard of behaviour for all students, employees, parents, permit holders and community members to:
- Ensure that all members of the community, especially people in positions of authority, are treated with respect and dignity;
- Promote responsible citizenship by encouraging appropriate participation in the civic life of the school community;
- Maintain an environment where conflict and difference can be addressed in a manner characterised by respect and civility;
- Encourage the use of non-violent means to resolve conflict;
- Promote the safety of people in schools;
- Discourage the use of alcohol and illegal drugs; and,
- Prevent bullying in schools.
While virtual learning remains a relatively new experience for many students, teachers and parents/guardians, the same responsibilities and expectations of students and parents/guardians apply as they do for in-person learning. This includes existing board policies and procedures such as the TDSB Online Code of Conduct.
Guidelines for schools/educators, students and parents/guardians are outlined in this document. Please feel free to read the complete TDSB’s Code of Conduct (PR585) here and Code of Online Conduct (PR571) here.
