Work Hard, Work Smart and Work Together

Wedgewood Junior School is located in a diverse community. The school serves students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5. Our parents speak more than 32 languages at home and about one third of our students speak English as their second language. The school provides a dynamic, positive and productive environment for all students. There is a close and co-operative partnership between the school and the community that results in additional support, enhanced resources and programs for students, thanks to parental involvement. Wedgewood staff work collaboratively to plan and deliver classroom programs so that all students can achieve success in a positive, nurturing learning environment.

As part of the Toronto District School Board we value: - each and every student;

- a strong public education system; - a partnership of students, schools, family and community; - the uniqueness and diversity of our students and our community;

- the commitment and skills of our staff; - equity, innovation, accountability and accessibility;

- learning environments that are safe, nurturing, positive and respectful.

Our website is one way we can demonstrate these values.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to Wedgewood Junior School!

The Wedgewood staff is committed to working together with families as a team because we value the strong partnership between home and school. This enables our students to learn and grow by supporting and cheering them onto success together.

Important ways to set ALL students up for success is to foster a growth mindset, demonstrate respect for themselves and others, actively participate, and work towards achieving their personal best through goal-setting and effort.

Along with our school’s commitment to providing Wedgewood students with a solid academic foundation, we encourage students to participate in the wide variety of arts, athletics and academic extra-curricular activities that are offered throughout the school year. These valuable and personal growth opportunities are organized and led by a very talented, energetic and dedicated group of staff members and parents of WFSA- Wedgewood Family and School Association.

Our shared goal is to ensure the best possible school experience and learning outcomes for Wedgewood students.

On behalf of the entire Wedgewood staff, we wish all students a wonderful year of learning!

Sincerely,

Sooky Crljen

Principal

Joint Ward Forum - February 27, 2020

I’m excited to join Trustees Chris Tonks (Ward 6) and Patrick Nunziata (Ward 3) in holding public consultation regarding TDSB Parent Engagement Policy P023. For information about this forum and to view the flyer click here for the PDF and JPEG.

A portion of this Ward Forum will also be dedicated to holding Ward 2 PIAC Representative Elections. The Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) has a representatives and alternate representatives from all 22 wards. Elections are held in each ward for two year terms. Anyone in Ward 2 who is interested in running for either of these positions is encouraged to attend the meeting. A brief period of time will be provided to all the candidates to introduce themselves and share their thoughts prior to the election.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ward 2 PIAC representative Vivek Rao and alternare Shafoli Kapur for their service to PIAC and to our Ward 2 Community. I would also like to thank the Ward 2 elected members of the French as a Second Language Advisory Committee. Last year representative Rob Janes and alternate Lisa McAvoy were each elected to a two year term. It's great to have the commitment of these four individuals who give so generously of their time in the service of our community.
