Black History Celebration - Save the Date
Guardians and families are invited to join us on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 6:30 PM for our Black History Celebration.
Students have been working hard on a variety of performances to celebrate Black Excellence at C.R. Marchant. We look forward to having all of our families join us.
EQAO Math Night for Parents and Guardians
EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. These assessments are taken by all Ontario students in Grades 3, 6, and 9.
During the webinar, EQAO staff will show how these math questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes. Staff will also share valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and guardians support their children’s math learning.

Guides for Parents/Guardians/Caregivers Video Series
Special Education and Inclusion is excited to share our Guides for Parents/Guardians/Caregivers video series. These videos provide an overview of our Guides to Special Education, designed to help families understand the programs, services, and supports available to students.
Topics include:
- Understanding Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Navigating the Identification, Placement, and Review Committee (IPRC) process
These resources are here to support you every step of the way. We also encourage you to explore the full guides on the Special Education and Inclusion Website, where you will find additional Special Education resources for families.
Limiting Sugary Drinks at School
We understand that students sometimes enjoy bringing sugary drinks to school. However, there are several reasons why limiting them can be beneficial:
- Health Concerns
Sugary drinks contribute to obesity, diabetes, and dental problems. Excessive sugar intake can also increase the risk of long-term health issues, such as heart disease.
- Energy Crashes
While sugary drinks provide a quick energy boost, they often lead to crashes, making it harder for students to stay focused and alert in class.
- Impact on Learning
High sugar consumption can negatively affect memory, concentration, and overall cognitive function, making it more difficult for students to absorb and retain information.
- Encouraging Healthy Habits
Schools promote healthy choices by encouraging students to drink water, milk, or natural fruit juices instead of sugary sodas or energy drinks.
- Classroom Disruptions
Some students become hyperactive after consuming sugar, which can lead to behavioral challenges and distractions in the classroom.
- Risk of Spills and Messes
Sugary drinks can create sticky messes in classrooms and hallways, leading to potential accidents and extra cleaning work for custodians.
By making mindful choices, we can work together to support student well-being and create a better learning environment for everyone.
Thank you for being a part of our school community! We are looking forward to another great week ahead. As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more information.
Warm regards,
C.R. Marchant School Council
