Principal's Message

Welcome to Islington Junior Middle School.

The popular proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child" truly comes to life at Islington Junior Middle School as staff, parents and community members work collaboratively to create a warm, supportive, safe and nurturing environment in which to learn.

The staff here are committed to providing each student with a rich learning environment in which they can reach their full potential. As an Early French Immersion school, both the English and French staff participates in Professional Development on an on-going basis working together as a Professional Learning Community to strengthen their knowledge and stay current in their teaching practices.

Healthy Living, Arts Education, Environmental Education and Character Education are highly valued at our school as we strive to instill respect and responsibility in our future leaders, our students. As a new School to the Eco School program, our staff, students and community are proud and dedicated in their efforts to make responsible choices and be very conscious about how their actions affect our environment.

Our staff and School Council are deeply committed to further supporting students by offering a wide variety of extra-curricular sports, clubs and intramurals. In addition, through visiting artists and itinerant teacher support we are able to complement the daily teaching of arts programs by offering band, strings, dance and many other art experiences.

Our school is fortunate to have a dedicated and active School Council. Our parents work closely in partnership with our staff to support student success and provide opportunities for students to experience learning. Visiting artists, field trips, and curriculum and technology support are just a few of the ways our parent council has supported the school through their efforts. We could not do it without them!

I look forward to working with all of you and being part of the Islington Junior Middle School Family!
