ACI 2025-2026 School Council

Agincourt Collegiate Institute Parent Council

In partnership with the Toronto District School Board

Welcome to ACI!

Good morning and a very warm welcome to the Agincourt Collegiate Institute (ACI) community!

We are truly excited to have your family join one of Scarborough’s most diverse, vibrant, and academically strong school environments. High school is an important and transformative journey, and the ACI Parent Council is here to support you and your child every step of the way.

Our goal is simple yet meaningful: to help build a safe, welcoming, respectful, and accountable school environment where parents and school administration work collaboratively to support student success.

Who We Are

The ACI Parent Council is a dedicated group of parent and guardian volunteers committed to enhancing the school experience for all students. We:

  • Support student achievement and well-being
  • Strengthen communication between families and school administration
  • Promote accountability in alignment with TDSB policies and the Education Act
  • Encourage active parent involvement in school life

We meet regularly throughout the school year, and all parents are warmly invited to attend and participate.

Meeting Dates

We encourage all parents to stay connected by attending meetings throughout the year:

  • December 10, 2025
  • February 11, 2026
  • March 11, 2026
  • April 22, 2026
  • June 3, 2026

Meetings typically include updates from the Principal, council initiatives, subcommittee reports, and meaningful discussions focused on strengthening our school community. We encourage parents to attend at least two to three meetings annually.

How We Support Parents

Clear Communication
We maintain an updated Parent Council webpage with meeting agendas, minutes, and important updates. We also follow structured group chat guidelines to ensure communication remains respectful, relevant, and productive.

Parent Concern Protocol
To ensure concerns are addressed effectively, we follow a clear process:

  • Contact the classroom teacher
  • If unresolved, meet with the Principal
  • Then the Superintendent
  • Then your Trustee
  • Finally, the Ministry of Education if necessary

This structured approach ensures concerns are handled appropriately. Please note that private matters are not discussed during Parent Council meetings.

Subcommittees
Parents can participate in focused working groups, including:

  • Bylaws Subcommittee
  • Group Chat Protocol Subcommittee
  • Parent Concern Protocol Subcommittee
  • Caring & Safe Schools Subcommittee
  • Booth & Outreach Subcommittee

These groups allow for deeper discussion and report back to the full council.

Community & Engagement

We believe that a strong school community leads to stronger student outcomes. Throughout the year, the Parent Council supports engagement by:

  • Hosting information booths at events such as Curriculum Night and school concerts
  • Organizing community potlucks
  • Promoting parent education opportunities
  • Encouraging participation in TDSB initiatives such as PIAC, PCCO, and the Parents as Partners Conference

Member Expectations (Voting Members)

Voting members commit to:

  • A one-year term
  • Approximately one hour per month for general meetings
  • Additional time for executive or subcommittee work
  • Active participation and respectful collaboration

We value accountability, humility, and teamwork in all that we do.

Group Chat Guidelines

To maintain a respectful and productive communication space:

  • Keep messages relevant and necessary
  • No political, personal, or inappropriate content
  • Articles require prior approval
  • No spam, memes, or advertisements
  • Always communicate respectfully

Our guiding principle: Is it relevant? Is it necessary?

Our Mission

The ACI Parent Council exists to support student success, foster a safe and inclusive school environment, strengthen partnerships between parents and the school, and represent the collective voice of parents in a constructive and respectful manner.

Get Involved

There are many ways to contribute:

  • Attend meetings
  • Join a subcommittee
  • Volunteer at school events
  • Support Parent Council initiatives
  • Share ideas in a collaborative and respectful way

Every contribution—big or small—helps strengthen our community.

Final Note

High school years pass quickly, but when parents stay engaged, students are more likely to thrive. We look forward to working together to create a successful, supportive, and memorable experience for every ACI family.

Warm regards,
Simone Dublin
Chair, ACI Parent Council
