TRANSITION ADMISSION – GRADE 8 TO CENTRAL TECH FOR SEPTEMBER 2022
Grade 8 to 9 Transition
Home School
- High school based on student’s home address
- any student can attend their home school
- there is no registration form for home schools, only submitting course selection on time
Optional Attendance
- May apply for up to 2 schools that are not the student’s home school, for regular programming
- Parent/guardian delivers optional attendance form to the high school by due date
- If the school has space, students will be accepted.
- Optional attendance schools do not require criteria
Specialized Programs/Schools
- May apply for up to 2 programs/schools
- Acceptance based on criteria created by the high school
- Parent delivers optional attendance form and school specific applications to school by school set due dates
- Parents and students are responsible for ensuring all requirements of the program are met

Grade 8 Student visits – POSTPONED due to Covid-19
January 28, 2022- Optional Attendance Applications at Central Tech by 4:00 p.m.
February 11, 2022 - Deadline for parents/guardians of students to be informed of the status of the application request
February 22, 2022 - Parents/guardians must inform the requested school of their acceptance of the offer via email and submit course selections via MyBlueprint
IN-DISTRICT (HOME SCHOOL) APPLICANT
For students currently in grades 9 - 12
- Students are considered in-district (home school) to Central Tech if they are attending a private or separate school and living in the Central Tech catchment area.
- In-district students attending another TDSB school must complete an Optional Attendance Form as their current school is considered to be their home school.
- You will be asked to supply documentation that you live in our area.
- Notification of acceptance will be sent advising students that registration appointments will be scheduled in early April.
- §In-district students going to a private/separate school can pick-up a registration package beginning in December.
TDSB Secondary School Information Guide Grade 9-12
OPTIONAL ATTENDANCE (OUT OF DISTRICT) APPLICANTS
Students who do not live within the Central Tech catchment area must apply through the TDSB Optional Attendance process.
- Students attending a TDSB school must pick up the Optional Attendance application from their current school.
- Non-TDSB students should pick up the Optional Attendance application from any TDSB school or Board office.
- Completed Optional Attendance applications must be received by CTS by 4:00 p.m. on date to be announced.
- All applications will be reviewed and processed as per TDSB Optional Attendance Policy PR545.
- Families will be notified by mail about their status after the lottery. Families of in-coming grade 9 students must confirm their acceptance of the offer of admission by returning a completed Course Selection Sheet to Central Tech by date to be announced. Families of in-coming grade 10-12 students will be sent a package detailing steps to be followed before making an appointment for interview for admission.
IMPORTANT 2020 DATES TO REMEMBER:
January 28, 2022 - All applications due by 4:00 pm sharp.
February 11, 2022 - Parents notified of acceptance/non-acceptance to CTS.
February 22, 2022 - All Course Selection forms due.
