MATH

The CTS Mathematics Department provides all grade 9 and 10 students opportunities to meet challenges and develop their skill set in preparation for senior math courses.

Our belief is that all students are capable of success and we are committed to improve our practices to ensure that the content delivered is accessible, meaningful, and challenging.

The department has implemented change to improve our instructional and evaluation practices by using the “Thinking Classroom” model. Students will learn math concepts through the use of collaborative problem-solving using vertical non-permanent spaces (classroom whiteboards) along with spiraling the curriculum to allow students to gain skills to become independent thinkers.

We support our students with asset-focused feedback and design evaluations to honour our students' voice and allow all students to demonstrate their successes in learning mathematics.
