Mr. Colquhoun

I’m Mr. Colquhoun, a Mathematics & Computer Science with a B.A. Hons. in English, math, and history. I love trying new things and finding interdisciplinary connections between different academic fields. I’ve been at Central Tech for about seven years now and have had a great time sharpening my skills and growing as an educator within our community.
What I love about CTS is the fancy architecture. Of course, I also love our community, from our hard-working soccer team to our amazing LAWS program!

Mr. Frade

Before teaching I worked in theatre and film for five years. I believe all those creative experiences I had writing, producing and directing plays or films helped shape me into the educator I am today.

I always wanted to teach at Central Tech. A bunch of my family members, including my Father, attended CTS. I am so utterly grateful to be here at my dream job.

This year as an Art and Technological Education teacher I want to collaborate more with different departments. I also want to develop assignments in which the projects students produce directly serve our community

Ms. Rosen

I'm teaching Communications Technology, Design Tech, and Robotics at CTS, and I'm so thrilled to be part of a vibrant, diverse, and intellectually curious school community. Before I became a teacher, I was a graphic designer, editor, and illustrator, and I still freelance to keep my skills sharp. Outside of school, I'm a novelist, short story writer, and podcaster, and it's these interdisciplinary connections that keep me learning, growing, and helping my students become creators, innovators, and active citizens.

Mr. Cho

A proud graduate of Central Technical School, I discovered my passion for automotive technology early on and turned it into a lifelong career. For over 20 years, I worked in the automotive industry as a licensed mechanic and team leader, training apprentices and guiding them toward success in the trade.

My goal now is to bring the same mentorship and hands-on learning experience to the classroom, helping students gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge to thrive in education and everyday life.

Mr. Fam

Returning to Central Tech as a teacher is especially meaningful since it’s where my automotive career began. After graduating, I worked with Toyota and Lexus, earning my Master Technician Certification and gaining expertise in modern vehicle diagnostics and repair. I later served six years as an Assistant Service Manager at Lexus, developing leadership, communication, and customer service skills while managing daily operations and supporting technicians.

I enjoy sharing my real-world experience with students and helping them gain the practical skills, confidence, and professionalism they need to succeed in their future careers.

Mr. Schrader

I’m a seasoned plumbing professional with four decades of hands-on and instructional experience in the trade. Beginning my plumbing career in 1985, I have since earned my Master Plumber designation and hold Gas Fitter II certification, along with extensive heating system experience.

After years of running my own successful plumbing company, I transitioned into education, bringing my wealth of real-world knowledge to the next generation of tradespeople. Since 2005, I have been a respected instructor at Central Tech, where I currently teach the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), and Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) courses in Plumbing.

I am dedicated to fostering technical excellence, safety awareness, and professional growth among my students, helping them build strong foundations for lifelong careers in the skilled trades.

Mr. Stavole

I began my career in the electrical trade as an apprentice in 1987 and earned my Electrician 309A license in 1993, followed by my Master Electrician certification in 1995. Since then, I have owned and operated my own electrical contracting business, which keeps me current with evolving building codes, new technologies, and modern industry practices. My active involvement in the trade also helps me maintain strong professional relationships, creating valuable co-op and apprenticeship opportunities for my students.

Before joining Central Technical School in 2004, I taught Levels 1 and 2 of the Electrical Apprenticeship program at Humber College. I am dedicated to bringing real-world experience into the classroom and to helping students develop the technical skills and professional habits necessary to succeed in Ontario’s skilled trades sector.

Mr. Zalewski

Prior to teaching I worked for over 15 years in both the commercial and residential sectors of the construction industry, completing a formal apprenticeship in General Carpentry (403A) and successfully obtaining my Certificate of Qualification and Red Seal certifications. In my role as a carpenter, I was able to work on a variety of projects from heavy civil concrete structures to heritage residential home building projects and interior renovations, eventually progressing to a site supervisor position. I am committed to creating a platform for young people to find opportunities in the skilled trades and learn practical skills they can use throughout their lives.

Ms. Koshy

My education includes a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Hotel Management, a Red Seal Certificate of Qualification, and a Bachelor of Education. After graduating with a Bachelor of Hotel Management, I worked for a decade in International Hotels. Before joining TDSB in 2003, I taught at George Brown College. I am passionate in sharing my industry experience and knowledge of nutrition. I am committed to developing inquisitiveness for nutrition-focused international cuisine and culinary skills among my students.

Ms. Leckie

My passion for cooking was nurtured by my parents and our family’s connection to farm-to-table living. During my studies at Oakwood Collegiate, I completed a co-op at Dufflet Pastries before earning a Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Communications from Ryerson University. My culinary career includes positions at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise, staging under Chef Michael Stadtländer at Eigensinn Farm which included touring 10 cities across the country for the Gold Medal Plates competition. I honed my fine dining and pastry skills and worked under Chefs Pascal and Martial Ribreau for many years.

As chef-owner of Fiorentina Restaurant for 12 years, I combined creativity and community through locally inspired cuisine. After selling the business, I transitioned to education, teaching Hospitality and Tourism with the TDSB. I am dedicated to inspiring students through hands-on learning and helping them develop the professional skills, confidence, and passion to develop life skills as well as to succeed in the hospitality industry.

Ms. Kalerante

As the hairstyling teacher, my passion for the craft began in high school while volunteering for a 1940s-themed school play. I started my professional journey in 1987 as an apprentice at Jean Louis David in Holt Renfrew, building a full clientele within two years. Over the next 13 years, I worked on fashion shows, styled local television personalities, and co-founded a salon before transitioning to a home-based business while raising my family.

Once my daughters were in school, I shifted my focus to education—teaching in several TDSB high schools and supporting the Hairstyling OYAP program. Since joining Central Technical School in 2021, I’ve been dedicated to sharing industry expertise, integrating real-world experiences into learning, and helping students build technical skills and professional confidence for successful careers in the skilled trades.
