🌞 It has been an incredibly busy, productive, and vibrant week at our school, and the beautiful weather we’ve been having has only added to the wonderful energy in our halls!
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome future students from our feeder schools this week, who visited to learn all about life at C.R. Marchant Middle School and gather the best tips on how to prepare for Grade 6 next year—it was wonderful to see their excitement. A big shout out to the students who lead the presentations and school tours for these Grade 5 visitors; you were incredible C. R. Marchant representatives!
🔬 Also this week, Grade 6 students enjoyed a fantastic, hands-on visit from Scientists in the School, diving deep into interactive STEM learning about different types of Energy. Also, all students took important steps to care for their physical well-being as students across the school participated in dental screenings run by Toronto Public Health Nurses.
🏀 Finally, we are excited to share that our new Hijabi Ballers basketball club officially launched this week, providing a fantastic, inclusive space for interested students to connect, build community, and get active.

🤝 CR Marchant SAC Year End Report
Dear Parents and School Community,
The C.R. Marchant School Council had a productive and rewarding 2025–2026 school year. School Council meetings were held on September 25, 2025, November 12, 2025, January 14, 2026, April 1, 2026, and June 10, 2026. These meetings were open to all members of the school community and provided opportunities for parents, guardians, and staff to discuss matters that support student success and school engagement.
The purpose of the School Council is to support student achievement and well-being while strengthening partnerships between families, the school, and the broader community. Throughout the year, Council worked collaboratively with school administration to promote family engagement and create opportunities for meaningful community connections.
During the 2025–2026 school year, School Council supported and organized several events and initiatives, including:
- Merch Night (November 12, 2025)
- Movie Night (January 14, 2026)
- Checks Over Strikes Presentation (February 4, 2026)
- Community Iftar (March 20, 2026)
- Mindfulness Everyday Program through an Innovation Grant (April 8, 2026)
A significant focus of Council’s work this year was strengthening family and community engagement. Through ongoing reflection and discussion, Council reviewed participation levels at various events and identified opportunities for growth. As a result, Council began exploring new approaches to event planning and community outreach to better meet the interests and needs of families. This work reflects Council’s commitment to creating inclusive, relevant, and engaging opportunities that foster stronger connections within the school community.
School Council would like to thank the administration, staff, families, and community partners who supported our initiatives throughout the year. Their participation, feedback, and commitment helped make our events successful and contributed to a positive school environment for all students.
We would also like to recognize the dedication of our School Council members, whose volunteer efforts and advocacy have been instrumental in supporting the goals of the school and enhancing family engagement.
Looking ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, School Council will continue to focus on increasing family participation, developing innovative engagement opportunities, and strengthening partnerships that support student success and well-being.
Respectfully,
Courtney Ricci and Julie Bisson
Chair, C.R. Marchant School Council
