General Mercer’s Student Support Plan
The students at General Mercer learn the importance of Emotional Intelligence
Self- Awareness: the ability to identify one’s own emotions
Self-Management: the ability to modulate one’s emotions
Social Awareness: the ability to understand others’ emotions
Relationship Management: the ability to co-regulate and manage interpersonal conflicts.
We do this by applying a prosocial (focusing on the positive) approach to addressing behaviour. It is a school expectation that our students learn to:
Play cooperatively and safely.
Resolve conflicts and difficulties through peaceful means.
Demonstrate courtesy and respect to all members of our school community: staff, students, parents, and community members.
Be respectful of the property of others, including school property.
Our students are expected to demonstrate behaviors that are integral to building good character. They do this by exhibiting the following attributes:
Respectful
Responsible
Empathetic
Kind & Caring
Team player
Fair
Honest
Cooperative
Integrity
Persevere
Along with the attributes above, we also work towards developing the following learning skills and work habits in class:
