Volunteer Policy Police Reference Check
We welcome and value family volunteers in our school community! If you are interested in volunteering, please review the information below:
Parents/Caregivers and community members who wish to volunteer must complete a Police Reference Check (which will include a vulnerable sector screening).
Please note that the Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is not required for parent volunteers participating in one-day field trips.
Daycare and TDSB are separate organizations. As such, each will require its own Vulnerable Sector Check.
1) Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - required for all volunteers
2) If you completed a VSC last school year
- If you already submitted your VSC to the TDSB last year, this year you only need to complete the Volunteer Annual Offence Declaration.
- The form can be printed, signed, and handed to your child’s teacher or the office.
3) Important - Once You Receive Your Results
The final step is submitting your VSC to the TDSB. Please check that you did the following:
- "This VSC is for [YOUR NAME] volunteering at Givins/Shaw Junior Public School
- The Password for this document is ______ (update with the password provided by TPS for your document). This is a copy of the original and has not been altered in any way."

- Select or enter amount of donation
- Select Fund Destination - “Givins/Shaw Junior Public School”
- Click “Add to Cart” and then “Continue”
- Sign In or Register for an account (Name, address, and email are required to register)

- Go to your email to “confirm your email address”
- Select method of payment and complete order (Visa, Master Card, Interac, or eCheck)
- Can print an official tax receipt immediately (or login at anytime in future to reprint or save tax receipt). An email of the tax receipt will also be emailed to you immediately.
