Highland’s Amazing Reading Race

We are having a Highland’s Amazing Reading Race this year in order to promote the importance of reading and give reading incentives to all of our students, but especially our reluctant readers. We are giving out free Scholastic Books to the top 3 readers in every class for both Terms 1 and 2.

After students read a book, they fill out a Google Doc titled, "Highland's Amazing Reading Race Book Log".

The students that read the most number of books win prizes! Students will  be given a deadline to submit the Book Log. They are asked not to submit their log until that deadline date.

**In June, a Literacy award and an Indigo Gift Card will be given out to the Top reader in Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8.

Book Request forms: If there are some books that your child would like to read and we do not have them in the library, please encourage them to fill out a book request form located at the library front desk. Once again this year, I will use the student requests to shape my book-buying this year. In order for you child to reach their reading goals this year, they should be reading at least 30 minutes nightly. If you have any questions, you can contact your child’s English teacher or myself at Happy Reading!
