April

Greetings Manhattan Park Families,

As we finally say goodbye to a long, snowy season and head into April, we welcome warmer and longer days.

Upon arriving back at school after the March Break, students and staff enjoyed a special Greek Heritage Presentation on March 23. Community members shared the History of Greek Dance and cultural attire with Manhattan Park, followed by a short interactive dance lesson! Thank you, Parent Council Co-Chair, Ms. Filopulous, for organizing the presentation along with a special Greek lunch for all at a discounted price.

Latin America History Month is proudly recognized at the TDSB during the month of April. The Latin American community has made significant contributions to Canadian society in the areas of business, innovation, academics, arts, science, and more.

Ongoing clubs and extra-curricular activities at Manhattan Park include: Blue Spruce Reading Club, Games Club, Math/Homework Club, Soccer Club, and Performing Arts Leaders Club. Starting on April 8, there will be Dance Club practices for all students from Grades 1-6. Thank you, teachers, for continuing to provide students with fun and varied experiences outside the classroom. Congratulations to the Girls' Volleyball Team for winning the Tournament last month! We also had a great game of Volleyball between students and staff! The Soccer Championship match was also very exciting!

Ongoing Parent Council events include: pizza/cookie days, LunchBox program, and ongoing support of excursions and learning resources for students.

Thank you, parent volunteers, who support our students during excursions. We now require all volunteers for excursions to get a Police Record Check. If you have indicated interest in volunteering and the teacher has confirmed with you that you are attending, please let the office know so that we can share the next steps in obtaining a Police Record Check. You will be asked to submit a letter online from the school. Thank you again, parents, for all your support.
