The Small School with a Big Heart
Niagara Street Public School is a small school nestled in the heart of one of the largest urban renewals the city has ever seen. One in which our residential neighbourhood and community parks meet up with the commercial, retail, and artisan hot spots of the Art and Design District. Think of us as a small school where we value a personal touch and individual attention to all students. Our culturally rich community has allowed unique learning opportunities and access to special programs that reach beyond the classroom. Technology and curriculum-base learning tools allow teachers to effectively engage students in the classroom to develop and strengthen the literacy and numeracy skills needed to achieve success. We pride ourselves on our diversity and promote positive behaviour to create an environment where all members have the right to expect a safe, caring and respectful learning experience.
If you have children ready to start Kindergarten, please know that parents and guardians can drop by any day during school hours to fill out the registration paperwork in the school office. We have our “Open House” around February when prospective families come for a visit. We like to keep the visits to one day to minimize the disruptions to the classrooms, but families may continue to register with the school office any time. Please let your neighbours with school age children know.
We share our space with Garrison Creek Community Day Care Centre, a non-profit licensed child care service who also provide our students with before and after care. There are also some after school programs provided by outside agencies like Arts Express and Chess. Niagara is a busy little school!
