Some Useful Math Sites

There are many sites and apps providing practice for mathematics basic skills. Other sites provide lessons and extension questions. We invite you to explore a few of these. If you find a site or app that you believe EVERYONE at Wellesworth should hear about, please email us (visit our 'Contacts' page) so that other families can also benefit.

  • Look at what is in our Ontario Curriculum for Mathematics
  • Visit the EQAO site and see the questions grade 3 and grade 6 students are asked AND see what responses would generate a score of level 3 or level 4.

Virtual Manipulatives - Would it be easier to do your homework if you had the manipulatives? Check out the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives which offers all sorts of possibilities. This site also has some ideas that you can explore. 

The Khan Academy - Offers videos, questions, lessons for Kindergarten to Grade 12 in Math and Science. Sign up for free!

NRich is a British site that offers great discussions, problems, magazine articles and interactive applets for deepening understanding of a broad range of mathematics topics. Good from Kindergarten to Grade 12!

Prodigy -  Are you in Grades 1 to 6? At Prodigy, you can play Math Games that are connected to what you are learning in class. Have fun while you practice!

Math Games with cards and dice - lots of possibilities!

Mathies offers Ontario students
  • games for topics for grades 1 through 10
  • tools like a neat calculator or pattern block grids
  • lessons for key ideas in our Ontario Curriculum
  • practice for the big important concepts in math.

mathFROG is a site offered by the University of Waterloo with challenges to grade 4, 5 and 6 students based on the Ontario Curriculum.

Homework Help - Is there a student in your family who is in grade 7, 8, 9 or 10? Want free tutoring? Try it out! Homework Help is run by TVO's Indpendent Learning Centre with support from the Ontario government. Register for free using your student number that is on your report card.

CLIPS - Within this site there are videos, instructions, on-line practice, games and more - designed for Ontario students for critical content in Mathematics learning. Most of the content is geared towards curriculum found in older grades, but there are a few gems for grades 4 and 5 students.
