Introduction

Maple Leaf

Alexmuir Junior Public School was named for Alexander Muir, a noted teacher who immigrated in the early 1800s. Muir composed the "Maple Leaf Forever," a patriotic song popularized at Canada's Confederation in 1867. For this reason, Alexmuir adopted the maple leaf as its symbol. The school was build in 1973 and in 1996 a two-story addition was built containing 10 classrooms, a new gym, computer lab and music room.

At Alexmuir we are committed to our  play policy that we created with Earth Day Canada. We were one of the original 6 TDSB schools chosen to be part of OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning). We will continue to improve and enrich the quality of outdoor play at Alexmuir.

Our number one goal is to create learning environments where students feel safe and cared for. We are committed to creating a community where everyone feels like they belong. We continue to focus on the mental health and well-being of every member of the Alexmuir community because we know they are essential for success.

We look forward to continuing to work together to help the students at Alexmuir become confident, motivated and enthusiastic learners.
