We have many students in our school who are severely allergic to nuts and peanuts. This is a very serious life-threatening allergy and we all must make a conscious effort to keep these students safe. For this reason, students are not allowed to bring any food into the school building which contain nuts or peanuts (e.g., granola bars containing nuts, peanut butter, chocolate bars containing nuts or peanuts).
Please make sure that if you send in a snack for the entire class (i.e., cupcakes), you check the ingredient list to ensure they are allergy safe. No snacks or treats will be distributed to the students if the item is not in the original package and if the ingredients are not listed on the packaging. Before bringing any treats into the school to please speak directly with your child's classroom teacher.
If your son or daughter has a serious allergy, they will be required to keep their epi-pen/allerject with them at all times. Free pouches can be obtained from www.epipen.ca and www.allerject.ca. Students with severe asthma will also be required to keep their inhalers with them at all times. Please help us to keep your children safe by supporting our efforts to create an allergy safe environment.
