School councils are an excellent way for parents to get involved in their child's education. Our school has an elected school council, which is an important forum for involving all members of the school community in issues that affect the education of students. The school council is made up of an elected committee of parents, staff and student representatives, appointed community members, the principal, and a general membership, which includes all the parents of children attending the school. The school council advises the principal on a variety of issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, renovation plans, after-school activities, and criteria for selection of new principals. Hi Cummer Valley Community!
Our School Council's first meeting of the year is on Tuesday, September 26th, at 5:30 p.m.
We'll meet in person at Cummer Valley Middle School to hear a back-to-school update from Principal Tou, elect new officers to the council for the 2023-2024 school year, and make plans for the coming year. We'd love to see you there! If you'd like to bring a snack or dish to share, we can eat and chat together.
Our agenda for the evening:
- School report
- Special education and resource support
- Elections
- Committees
- Year plans
Hope to see you on Tuesday!
