Parents

Parents

At Cummer Valley, we know that parents want the best education for their children. Our goal is to provide your family with a positive learning environment, with a variety of programs and services that promote outstanding student achievement. Our school has a number of parent volunteers, teachers and community memberswho make up our school council. The School Council acts as an advisory body to the Principal regarding many school-related issues. Your participation is very welcome. Meetings are held every month.

Parents are children's first and life-long teachers. We value the partnership between home and school and know that parental involvement is the key to success in school. You can be involved by helping your child with homework, volunteering in our school, or joining our school council. By welcoming you and providing opportunities for your involvement, we can work together to ensure that our students receive the very best education.

Cummer Valley has about 600 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Our students are very diverse with respect to country of origin, linguistic background and cultural orientation. Our staff has a history of providing an excellent all-round program for our students to meet their needs. Some of these programs include: Mathematics, Science and Technology, English, French, Social Studies, Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance, and Physical Education.

Newly arrived students who are not fluent in English receive instruction through our ESL core program. The amount of time spent in the ESL program depends on the English facility of the students. The goal is to integrate the English language learners (ELLs) into mainstream classes as soon as possible.Communication
