Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute is a large composite high school with a range of special programs.
Starting with the 2025-26 school year, Danforth's programs can only be accessed through application*
Regular Secondary
Most of our students are part of the regular secondary program, accessing the full diversity of Danforth's incredible academic program and robust extracurricular and athletic programming. Access is through the Out of Area Attendance process in December, under Secondary Schools Without a Boundary (SSWAB).
Technical Focus
Some seats during the SSWAB process are reserved for students who are explicitly seeking to access our unique technical and skills trades focused programs. Students who are admitted through this process commit to taking at least one course in Technological Education each year they attend.
Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM)
Students at Danforth in any program can access Specialist High Skills Majors programs in their senior years (Grade 11 and 12). There are some limited opportunities for senior students to apply to come for trades programs we offer through the Facilitating Access to Skilled Trades (FAST) process. For information see your school's guidance department.
We offer three SHSMs at Danforth:
- Health and Wellness
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Transportation Technology
Students who complete the program requirements (a package of courses along with a coop placement in the field and a selection of professional certifications) will earn a special Red Seal on their diploma.
Intensive Support Programs (ISPs)
All ISP programs are accessed through the TDSB's Identification Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) process. To access our Special Education programs, please discuss with the Principal or Special Education Resource Teacher at your current school.
Learning Disability (LD)
A partially integrated program for students with learning disabilities. The program features core courses at a smaller class size (16) and additional support through our hard working Education Assistants. 50% to 25% of the student's schedule is integrated with the regular program depending on grade.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
A partially integrated program for students with ASD. The program features core courses at a smaller class size (6) and additional support through our hard working Child and Youth Workers. 50% to 25% of the student's schedule is integrated with the regular program depending on grade.
Life Skills Program for Students with Developmental Disabilities (DD)
A fully contained program for students with Developmental Disabilities that focuses on non-credit courses designed to build independence and life skills.
Central Student Interest Program
MaST
Danforth's student interest program focused on interest and excellence in Math, Science and Technology (MST). Enrolment is centrally managed through an application in November of each year. See the program page for information on how to apply!
French Immersion
New for 2025: information coming soon!
