Reminder for Start of Year Forms: Just a reminder that all Start of Year forms are due on Friday September 20. The forms are all online and have been emailed to parents. If you haven’t received the forms, please connect with our office staff to make sure your email address is accurate and active or have your spouse/partner check their email. If none of these apply, please email me (ian.wilson@tdsb.on.ca) and I will help you.
Traffic Concerns on Brownlow: As many of you know, Brownlow is a very busy drop off/pick up area for our school. We have 2 separate TDSB busses arriving at about 8:30 am to pick up and transport students to other schools. Many parents use the 10 minute parking zone from 7:30 to 9:00 am (and throughout the day) while they bring their children to childcare or the school. Many parents use the Kiss and Ride (Safe Student Drop Off) between 8:45 and 9:00 am. TDSB facilities staff arrive from 7:00 am (and throughout the day) to do maintenance work at the school. Many of our school and childcare staff also bike to work as well. In addition, many parents use Brownlow as they walk to and from school with their children.
Please take all of this into consideration when dropping off/picking up or when you come to the school. We also ask that you please avoid doing 3-point turns on Brownlow after dropping off children. We know how convenient it is, but it can be a dangerous move in an already busy area. Once you have dropped off, please proceed north on Brownlow and turn right on Eglinton (no left turns are currently allowed at Eglinton).
Volunteers Wanted! Our Kiss and Ride program (Safe Student Drop Off) ineeds volunteers. Some parents volunteer for just 30 minutes per month!. If you can volunteer, for any amount of time, please contact Sophie Luxton at sophieluxton@sympatico.ca.
Curriculum Night: Our 2019 Curriculum Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. We will start the evening in the gym for a brief welcome and introductions. After that, parents and guardians will join their child’s teacher in their classroom to meet the teacher, get classroom and program information and ask questions. Please keep in mind this evening is not meant for engaging in discussions about individual students. You can connect with your child’s teacher any other time to discuss concerns or progress.
School Council Elections: Just a reminder that our first school council meeting is on Tuesday, October 9, 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The first meeting will be dedicated to electing parent representatives for school council and then electing representatives to special council positions. If you are interested in being a school council Parent Representative or in holding one of the special council positions, please be sure to complete a nomination form and attend this meeting. Download a copy of the nomination form and drop it off in the school’s office or email it to eglintonparents@gmail.com
Parent Representatives are voting members who:
- participate on any committees established by school council
- contribute to the discussions of the school council
